Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park..Caption:(Thursday 01/13/2011 Estes Park)Just over an hour northwest of Boulder, Colo., and only 15 minutes from the quaint town of Estes Park, the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center is the gateway to the Bear Lake area of Rocky Mountain National Park which offer snowshoers and cross-country skiers miles of trails with dynamic views of rugged peaks and the opportunity to view the wildlife that endures this snowy environment. The sun breaks in and out of fast moving clouds, constantly changing the scenery for snowshoers and cross-country skiers along the Glacier Gorge Trail. The visitors center does not rent snowshoes or skis, so bring your own or pick some up from an outfitter in Estes Park such as The Warming House (http://www.warminghouse.com), where you can rent snowshoes and trekking poles for the day starting at only $8 for adults, $4 for small children...Summary: Snowshoe in Rocky Mountain National Park..Photo by Julie Busch Branaman
