Sea Turtles in Trouble Environmental Photojournalism
Scientific estimates indicate that only one in 1000 hatchlings will survive to become a reproductive adult sea turtle. Loss of nesting beaches due to coastal overdevelopment hinder turtles from laying eggs. Light pollution which causes hatchlings to go AWAY from the water and predators ranging from raccoons, birds and even domesticated animals have the odds stacked against them before they ever reach the water.
